HMS Queen (1839); Warship; First rate; 110 guns
Scale: 1:96. A sectional model showing the bow of the first rate 110 gun warship HMS Queen (1839), including the figurehead, catheads, positions of gun decks, and a number of gun ports. The model has been painted in realistic colours, the hull has black with the white bands connecting the gun ports on all of the gun decks. The female figurehead has been gilded and the foredeck has been painted an off-white colour. The principle purpose of the model seems to be the design and positioning of the figurehead, which is finely detailed. The number `2' is inscribed on the model together with a written reference in pencil relating to the South Kensington Museum catalogue.
