HMS Queen (1839); Warship; First rate; 116 guns

Scale: 1:24. A model of the round bow of HMS Queen (1839) made almost entirely in wood with some metal fittings. The hull is painted copper below the waterline to indicate sheathing while above the bulwarks are black. The three main gun decks are highlighted with a horizontal white stripe. The inside face of the gun ports have been painted bright red and are complete with black gunport lids. The interior of the hull between decks is finished in varnished natural wood with the interior of the hull painted a light green colour. Also internally fittings include mast step, deck pillars, riding bits, the step for the bowsprit and a wooden grating just forward of the foremast position. Externally, fittings include the forward section of the fore-channels, a pair of catheads together with a pair of admiralty-pattern anchors and chain cable and a pair of boomkins. There is a very ornately carved female figurehead (representing the young Queen Victoria) with a crown and flowing robes, all of which has been painted gold and is mounted at the top of the beakhead, behind which are a pair of trailboards painted black.
