Warship

Scale: Unknown. A sectional model of the bow of a warship showing two methods of stepping a bowsprit. The model is made entirely of wood, with the outboard hull composed of exposed varnished individual frames complete with ribbans fitted. The planked portion of the hull above the wale is painted black with a white stripe along the gun ports. The upper works are painted black. There are twelve gun ports, the inner face of which are painted red, a pair of cat heads and a stump bowsprit divided vertically at slightly two different levels.

Inboard the model is finished with a white upper deck and an olive green bulwarks, while below deck the deck planking, frames, beams and riding bits are left in a natural wood. The exposed frames themselves are made up in the traditional method of individual floors, futtocks and top timbers, all of which are held in place with metal pins and wooden ribbans. On the upper deck a pair of riding bits are fitted either side of the mast aperture, and are connected to the heel of the bowsprit step.
