Warship; Bomb vessel

Scale: Possibly 1:48. A model depicting the midship section of a bomb vessel, made entirely in wood with metal fittings and partly painted in realistic colours. The external hull, deck beams and planking, and internal structure are finished in varnished or polished wood. The closed wales, gunwales and some deck fittings are painted black. The inboard bulwarks, inner faces of the gunports and sweep ports, and tabernacles are painted red. Eight complete gunports are depicted, and each port has a pair of sweep ports either side of it, three of which retain side-opening lids. The channels for the mainmast are shown. Two mortar beds are shown with provision for mortars. Between the beds is a single grating. Two rows of deck planking are removed to show the beams. The heavy framing and magazines are depicted, the latter having openable doors. The model is displayed on two tall pillar supports on a rectangular mahogany baseboard with four shaped corner feet. A mahogany-framed removable case cover is glazed on all four sides and top.
