HMS Bellerophon (1865); Warship
Scale: Unknown. A model of the stern of HMS Bellerophon (1865) made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The model shows the balancing mechanism for the rudder and the framing of the stern part of the vessel. The hull is painted pink below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. The exposed frames of the rudder, stern post, keel, deck and hull frames are painted blue-grey. The sections of planking on the three exposed decks are made in wood scored to resemble planking. The inboard hull on the upper and main decks are painted white. The hull plates on the port side of the deadwood and the starboard side of the rudder are shown removed to expose the frames. Two gun ports on the aft deck and four gun ports on the shown, their inner faces painted red. The two bladed propeller is painted a mottled green to simulate verdigris. The model is displayed on two stylised wooden blocks and four turned wooden stabiliser supports on a rectangular mahogany base with bevelled edges and tablet feet.
