Grace a Dieu
Scale: 1:48. A sectional model depicting timber planks and frames from Grace a Dieu and the method of clinker building used in the vessel's construction. The model is made entirely in wood, unpainted and unvarnished and roughly finished. There are three upright frames, square in section, with fives notches cut in their outer surfaces, into which are fitted two horizontal overlapping planks. The planks are secured to the frames with wooden pegs or treenails that protrude from the opposite faces of the frames. Weathered circular metal discs are driven into the planks in two horizontal rows in each plank. The frames are held together by two wooden timbers secured to their top and bottom edges. Written in pencil at top of middle frame "Top". Written in pencil on side face of third frame " Pattern showing method of planking and timbering Grace a Dieu".
