Froude propeller (circa 1874)
Scale: 1:28. Model depicting one of Froude's early propellers, tested in March 1874 in conjunction with a model of the iron screw frigate HMS Shah (1873). It is a two bladed propeller with a round-nosed boss, mounted on a shaft on an aluminium support. It is displayed in a glass and wooden case with five other propeller models: see SLR2387, SLR2389, SLR2390, SLR2391 and SLR2392. The display shows a comparison between Froude's propellers circa 1874 and various 20th century designs.
