Accommodation model; Sectional model

Scale: Unknown. An accommodation model depicting the mess deck of a warship, and its position in relation to the ship's side and main deck. The model is made entirely in wood, polished and painted in realistic finishes. The exterior of the hull is painted black, and the edges of the section show the manner in which the hull is constructed. Two decks are shown, the main deck is supported by four iron beams projecting from the side of the ship, and the two outer beams are supported by two wooden columns. Both decks have been depicted in a realistic fashion; they have been scored and inked to simulate planking. A paper label has been applied to one corner of the deck marked "16".

Two mess tables and four benches are shown; the tables are suspended from the roof of the mess deck, while the benches pivot on metal pegs attached to the hull and rest on metal legs at the opposite ends. On the wall of the mess deck there is an open dresser with a central patrician and three pairs of shelves. The lower most pair of shelves are plate racks, with open shelving on the upper two pair of shelves, and above these there are three pairs of sliding doors with ventilation grilles.
