Accommodation model; Sectional model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a ship's powder room/magazine made entirely of wood. Model consists of a tall rectangular wooden box with removable lid and back, the outside of which is stained and varnished natural wood as well as areas of artificial graining. The interior of the model is painted a creamy yellow overall and consists of a series of six vertical wooden frames with adjustable horizontal slats. There is space for five tiers of powder boxes, three deep, some of the boxes are individually made, others are made in blocks of three or more. The powder boxes are painted a creamy white with a small hinged door at the front and a circular tin lid (possibly galvanised) for access to the powder itself. On each lid is hand-written in black ink, the type, the no. and size of the powder bags kept within. There are a pair of rails on top of each box with holes underneath, through which a pair of rods can be inserted for carrying the powder boxes. In total there are fifty eight powder boxes. The floor of the magazine has been lined with a metal sheet. One of a pair of magazine models: see SLR2436.
