Accommodation model; Seamens' messroom
Scale: Unknown. Accommodation model depicting proposed plan for equipping a mess deck (1855) made of wood and metal. The outer hull is finished in a black gloss paint with the cross section and decking finished in natural varnished wood to illustrate the internal construction. The deck beams and planking are finished in natural varnished wood with the individual deck planks scored to show the layout and fixture of them to the beams. The inboard side of the vessel is painted white and is complete with six ledges onto which the tables and benches are secured by means of metal pins. There are four benches and one table all of which are finished in natural varnished wood and are complete with folding legs and square and round fire buckets. The whole model has been annotated with the letters A-G which have been painted on to the various parts in a creamy white paint.
