HMS Victory (1765); Warship; First rate 100 gun
Scale: 1:16. A model of the foremast of the first rate 100 gun warship HMS Victory (1765), showing the damage it received at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The model has been made from wood, stained and painted, and the mast bands have been depicted using paper strips that have been painted black. There is a small printed paper label applied to the side of the mast that reads "A model of the foremast of his majesties ship Victory. (scale three quarters of an inch to a foot). Shewing the various shot holes received in the glorious battle of Trafalgar, when the ...Lord Nelson was slain. Made out of a piece from the mast that was in the ship on the day of battle." The battle damage has been accurately depicted.
