Equipment model; Ventilator model
Scale: Unknown. A working model of a ventilator used on board ships. The ventilator itself is made in brass, and housed in a section of stained mahogany, the whole of which is mounted on a stained mahogany rectangular baseboard on two raise longitudinal feet.
The ventilator itself was originally operated with a rope cord through a single pulley on the inboard right-hand side and is locked into the open position by a pivoting plate which slides down and stops on a raised lug in the middle. The rear face of the ventilator on the inboard side is stamped "SHERINGHAMS VENTILATOR REGISTERED DECR 10th 1849".
