Equipment model; Rail truck model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a proposed rail truck, in three parts (Also see SLR2494.1 and SLR2494.2), for moving materials around the Royal Dockyards. The model has been made in oak, stained and varnished a dark brown colour and has brass fittings. The model is in three parts. The first part consists of a four-wheeled flat-bed wagon, whose front wheels pivot and can be turned via the attached towing gear. The towing gear is edged in brass and the wheels and pivoting mechanism are also in brass. The rear wheels are slightly larger than the front ones with the axle set asymmetrically so that the right hand rear wheel projects beyond the bed. Two brass rails are set transversely on the bed towards the front and rear. The second part of the model is a simple rectangular raised oak platform.
