A wooden shield, decorated with a painted naval crown and bearing the inscription “ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY” “AND NO SOONER WAS THIS MESSAGE FULLY KNOWN THAN THREE HEARTY CHEERS REBOUNDED ON BOARD EVERY SHIP IN THE FLEET AND EXCITED AND STILL EXCITES THE MOST LIVELY ENTHUSIASM IN EVERY TRUE BRITISH HEART” a WOODEN SHIELD WITH A GOLD COLOURED EDGE AND A BROWN BACKGROUND. The shield is stained in various making the text hard to read.
