Fighting vessel; Battery; Circular battery

Scale: Unknown. A full hull design model of a circular battery (1867) made entirely in wood with metal fittings and partly painted. The depicted vessel is perfectly circular in shape with guns around the circumference. The hull is painted black around the circumference with sloping sides and a wooden deck. In the middle of the deck is a circular central battery, the walls of which are painted cream, with a wooden roof, or upper deck, in the centre of which is a small pill box-shaped battery, again painted cream. Fittings include stanchions around the circumference of both decks; eight identical gratings or ventilators around the main deck and six of two sizes on the upper deck; guns protruding from the main circular central battery; and small apertures around the small pill box-shaped battery.
