Equipment model; Anchor model
Scale: Unknown. A model of a Porter's anchor, circa 1830 made entirely of brass. The shank is rectangular in section and incorporates a close stowing stock and the model shows this procedure. The stock is curved to an angle of 90 degrees at one end and is bulbous at the other end. There is a ring at the top of the shank which pivots on a bolt. The bottom of the shank is forked to accommodate the crown which is held in position by a pair of split pins attached to one another by a short length of chain. The arms have two spikes that extend outwards just below the flukes.
