Service vessel; Lifeboat

Scale 1:12. A half block model of the starboard side of a multi-chine lifeboat (circa 1943) made entirely in wood which has a dark brown patina. The hull has a stem post (missing), keel, deadwood and the chines in the hull as it turns down towards the keel. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard with the upper corners removed at 45 degree angles. On typewritten paper label applied to backboard ‘Steel multi-chine lifeboat in course of development, Jun 1943, by Messrs Rowhedge Ironworks Ltd’. The backboard is heavily water-stained.
