Cargo vessel

Scale: Unknown. A half block model of the starboard side of a powered general cargo ship made entirely in wood and varnished or polished a mid-brown finish. The lower half of the hull has been made from a number of layers of timber to resemble planking, while the hull above the waterline is black-stained allowing the grain of the timber, made from a single piece, to show through. Features include a clipper bow, single strake running the entire length of the hull and provision for a single propeller. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard with bevelled edges. On plaque ‘Model of twin screw vessel for the Service of the Honourable Corporation of Trinity House, London" and "Thames Iron Works, Ship Building, Engineering & Dry Dock Company Blackwall, London.’ (plaque missing and possibly not belonging with model).
