Service vessel; Schooner; 8 guns

Scale: Unknown. A full hull model of an 8-gun topsail schooner (circa 1850) made entirely in wood with metal and organic material fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted a copper finish below the waterline, with a windlass for working them; a pair of boats stowed on davits on the port and starboard sides; a spare spar or yard stowed on the starboard side; and an ensign staff at the stern. The model is mounted on a pair of shaped wooden crutches and displayed on a rectangular wooden baseboard. On plaque ‘Model of topsail schooner presented to the R.N. Museum by R. Lionel. Foster. Esq.’.
