Warship

Scale: Unknown. A model of the bow of a warship made entirely in wood with metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted pink below the waterline with a narrow red stripe below the waterline, a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. The inner faces of the two pairs of hawseholes, the two pairs of gunports and the two scuppers are painted bright red. Fittings include a stylised truncated bowsprit which is square in section, a figurehead in the form of a shield on which painted a Union flag, hinged hawsehole covers, a section of forecastle and two pairs of stocked anchors rigged to iron catheads. The model is displayed on seven stylised launching blocks on a square mahogany baseboard with bevelled edges on three sides and four bun feet. The model also has a backboard painted white with three polished wood bevelled edges.
