Third rate 70 gun warship

Scale: Approx 1:96. A block model of an 18th century third rate 70 gun British warship carved from solid wood and partly painted. The undetailed foredeck is unpainted, and the waist and afterdecks have been covered in red paper. The hull has been painted white below the waterline, while the remainder of the hull is largely unpainted, apart from a decorative frieze along the upperworks and the stern and quarter gallery details. Thirteen guns ports have been depicted on each side of the lower gun deck, fourteen gun ports each side on the upper gun deck, and eight gun ports on each side of the poop deck. The gun port apertures are all painted black. The model shows a solid gunrail. Much of the model is missing, including the starboard side officers head, port stern quarter gallery, stern gallery rails, rudder, and possibly the figurehead. The model is mounted on a pair of wooden crutches, connected by a decorative slat.
