Longitudinal model; Sectional model

Scale: Unknown. Model of a lighter constructed largely in metal with some wooden fittings. The underside of the hull is painted a creamy white colour with black topsides separated by a thin white line along the waterline. The upper part of the hull has tumblehome with a raised wooden bulwark mounted above, finished in a creamy white colour. The bulwark has been notched equally along its length to support the deck beams and sponson beams, all of which are painted in a dark grey colour. The main part of the hull has been made from individual metal strips running longitudinally which have been fastened to metal frames internally using simulated rivets. There are a series of riders and a central keel supporting the frames together with two vertical bulkheads at the stern. The hull is double ended and has the addtion of sponson decks at the bow and stern, together with towing posts and a vertical casing through which a static rudder can be lowered. The whole model is mounted on a pair of wooden carved crutches.
