HMS Warrior (1860); Warship; Ironclad
Scale: probably 1:24. A model of a half midship section of HMS Warrior (1860), made entirely of wood with metal fittings and painted, stained and polished in realistic colours and finishes. The hull is painted brick-red below the waterline with a narrow white stripe above and black above the waterline. The top of the gunwhale is painted cream, the inboard bulwark and inboard upper deck wall are painted off-white and the frames, bulkheads and other construction details are painted blue-grey. The frames of the upper three decks are shown. The decks are partly planked, the wooden pieces being scored to resemble planking. One bulkhead is shown in part and other construction details include deck pillar supports, floor frames and compound armour. Two gunports are shown on the gundeck with the port lids open and a further gunport on the main deck. The section faces all have serrated edges. The model is displayed on two stylised chocks beneath the keel and four stabiliser supports beneath the hull (one missing) on a rectangular wooden baseboard with bevelled edges and bun feet. Marked on a label is '8'.
