Cargo vessel

Scale: Unknown. A half block model of a powered general cargo ship made entirely in wood and partly painted in realistic colours. The middle section of the model is made from alternating horizontal layers of dark- and light-coloured wood, which possibly indicates the decks. The section is also hinged at the bottom, opening downward to reveal plating details. The section is normally held in place by a revolving catch. The hull of the bow and stern sections are polished or varnished wood below the waterline and painted black above. The front and back faces of the midship section are marked in penwork indicating plating and other features. Fittings include small figurehead and trailboards; short foredeck and aft deck; two strakes running the entire length of the hull; stump bowsprit, foremast and mainmast; low superstructure aft of amidships, the side painted black, with a single stump funnel above, also painted black; and provision for a single propeller. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard.
