Component model; Mast and spars
Scale: Unknown. A set of masts and spars made entirely of wood with metal fittings and stained and varnished to a natural wood finish. A set of masts and spars, tops and cross trees for a three masted warship consisting of lower masts and a bow sprit, all of which are complete with brass circular bands and rope wouldings and finished with cheeks, caps and their upper ends and a square foot at the heel. There are also a set of top masts circular in section with a square lower end fitted with a single sheave, whilst at the upper end is a rectangular cap painted black. There are also three top-gallant masts which are circular in section with a square lower end fitted a single sheave, while at the upper end they taper to a point circular in section and painted black. For the three main masts there are a full set of yards all of which are painted black, with the main course and fore course yards fitted with two pairs of studding sail yards. There are three fighting tops which are flat and rectangular in shape with rounded corners on the leading edge, while the after edge is fitted with a wooden rail. To the left of the platforms are the corresponding trestle-trees and to the right are the cross-trees all of which are painted black. Separating the masts and spars from the platform components is a small jack staff in varnished natural wood and a larger ensign staff which is painted black. All of the models are mounted on a stained and varnished mahogany baseboard with a moulded edge to which ten modern typed paper labels have been glued. There is a modern perspex cover that fits on top of the baseboard. There is the remains of a paper label on the underside suggesting it was displayed at an exhibition possibly at Earl's Court in 1938.
