Sectional model

Scale: Unknown. Instructional sectional model depicting the clay mould, for the second stage of making a wax hull for a tank testing model. The metal casing is painted brown and has a white plaster insert, next to which is the wax infill, the inside of which is held in place by a canvas covered wooden frame. To hold the frame in shape longitudinally, two wooden shaped sections are positioned equidistant along the hull, and held in place by wooden beams athwartships. It is one of a series of five midship sections together with black and white photographs showing the stages in production of a wax tank testing model, all sharing the same glass and wooden display case: see SLR 2626, SLR 2898, SLR 2899 and SLR 2900. See SLR2626 for Chatham Storage measurements.
