Sectional model; Gun model

Scale: about 1:12. A model of a section of gun deck with a muzzle loading gun on a pivoting slide carriage made entirely in wood and brass and realistically painted. The deck section has been scored to resemble planking and the hull section is stained and varnished a dark brown finish. The gun is turned from a solid piece of wood and polished or painted black. The slide carriage is made of brass and consists of a rectangular bed which is pivoted to a bolt attached to the hull. The bed moves in an arc along a rail fixed to the deck. The carriage is conventional in shape and can be moved back and forth on the bed. The gun's elevation can be adjusted by turning a screw. To the left of the gun is a brass crank handle on a cylindrical mount fixed to the deck. The end of the crank handle turns on a securing bracket fixed to the hull. On a plaque attached to deck: "6", "117" and "I. Ericsson. inventor".
