Service vessel; Launch

Scale: 1:48. A modern exhibition model of the 23-foot launch as issued to HM Transport ‘Bounty’ (1784) and included as part of a larger diorama showing the ship alongside a quay loading supplies for a upcoming voyage. The hull is of carvel construction and is shown underway with three crew delivering stores to the ship. This was the largest of the three boats issued and includes a windlass amidships and a davit over the stern which would have been used for handling the anchors in calm weather or laying out mooring at an anchorage. It was in the launch that Captain Bligh was cast adrift with some of his crew on an amazing 3,600-mile voyage in the famous mutiny of 1789.
