Sectional model; Component model

Scale: Unknown. Model of a ship's beam comprising of three timbers connected by a chock and wooden pegs, the joint of which has been left open for circulation made entirely of oak which has then been stained a dark brown. The beam is square in section at either end and tapers towards a rectangular section amidships. The corners of the underside of the beam has been rounded off. At either end of the beam are two narrow slots probably used to connect it to a hanging knee or similar feature on the ship's hull. Label reads 'Model for making....orlop or gun deck from upright timber with horizontal scarphs and to give circulation of air. Invented and presented by W. Hookey. Esq...Deptford Yard'.
