Equipment model; Fishing net

Scale: Unknown. A fully equipped model of a fishing net with otter boards which would be towed by a mother ship either over the stern or from gantrys along the vessel side. The model is made of wood, metal and synthetic materials and comprises of a pair of rectangular otter boards, one corner of which is curved and the edges of both are reinforced and protected by metal bands. The inside face of the otter boards are complete with a pair of hinged A-frames, to which the wire towing warps and rope tripping warps are attached by chained links. The upper section of the net is fitted with a wire collar together with a series of plastic circular floats. The lower opening of the net comprises of a wire collar, which is protected by a thick rope coil and trace. The net itself is constructed from a synthetic cord and is complete with a cod end and baffles at the extreme end.
