Whaling harpoon
Whaling harpoon from the Mawson Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914). Barbed head, spring clip action and ring to secure head in place when not in use. Shaft widens to form "collar" at other end, to fit onto wooden shaft. Originally painted black.
