Medical supplies. Brown rectangular piece of leather with central pocket, and compartments formed from a strip of leather stitched to hold glass phials. A strap passes round the whole and has leather covered buckle. With three eyelet holes, machine stitched, grainy surface. Ten glass phials of tablets and one metal tube in place. Phials have longish necks and cork stoppers - three of them have a piece of white leather tied with pink thread over the stopper. Aluminium tube has punched lettering, standing out from the surface. It belonged to William Colbeck RNR took part in the 'Southern Cross' Antarctic Expedition (1898-1900), and in 1902 commanded 'Morning', the tender to Scott's 'Discovery'.
