Service vessel; Japanese
Scale: Unknown. A model of a small Japanese vessel made entirely in wood, parts of which are painted black. The model has been delicately made and is rigged with a single square sail made of silk which has a single wide, horizontal navy blue stripe. There is a stern cabin, open at the front and sides with a canvas roof and blue and white striped blinds. There is a simple figure-head at the bow and a pair of red horizontal stripes aft of it. The model illustrates the 'Yamato-gata' frameless plank-built style of construction, with a very broad keel plank, scarfed to an after-keel plank and an inner and outer stem post.
