Fishing vessel; Passenger vessel; Luzzu

Scale: Not to scale. A model of a Maltese luzzu, a double-ended rowing boat used for fishing and inter-island transport. The hull is brightly painted in blue below the waterline, coffee-colour at, and above, the keel, and red above. A coffee-coloured panel runs the length of the port and starboard sides with gold beading above and below, and on which is painted black filigree decoration and marked "177". The bulwarks have green-painted rectangular panels. The stem and stern posts are high and painted green. The round-bottomed rudder has an integrated tiller which is painted yellow ochre. The deck is painted salmon pink and has two thwarts painted green. The lower part of the interior of the hull and the bottom of the boat is also salmon pink. There are two baton-shaped yellow ochre-painted oars. The model is displayed on a pair of plywood crutches attached to a simple lozenge-shaped plywood baseboard. On plywood panel attached to baseboard "Luzzu".
