Fishing vessel; Passenger vessel; Luzzu

Scale: Not to scale. A model of a Maltese luzzu, a double-ended rowing boat used for fishing and inter-island transport. The hull is brightly painted in red below the waterline,green at the bottom, a pale blue stripe above, and yellow above the waterline. A brown-painted panel runs the length of the port and starboard sides on which is painted gold filigree decoration and marked "S.XMUN". The bulwarks have red and yellow-painted rectangular panels. One panel on either side is also painted black and marked "F.211". The stem post is high and painted green. The rudder is brightly painted in the same colours and configuration as the hull and it has a brown-painted tiller. The deck is green and has a gauze covering it. There are three fish at the bow end of the deck. There are a pair of white painted oars each with two green stripes running transversely across the ends of the blades. The interior of the hull and the bottom of the boat is painted green. The model is displayed on a pair of decoratively shaped crutches, painted brown, attached to a decoratively shaped hardboard baseboard, also painted brown with red and white edging. On baseboard "Luzzu" twice, and "Malta" twice.
