Passenger vessel; Dghajsa

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Maltese dghajsa made entirely in wood. The hull is double-ended and brightly painted predominantly red with white below the waterline. A double row of gold beading runs the entire length of the upper hull on the port and starboard sides and there is filigree work in black between the rows. The stem and stern posts are very tall and decoratively shaped in varnished wood and there are stylised scrolls on the posts' sides in white with black edging. On both sides of stem post and stern post "41". A section of raised bulwark on either side of the boat also has black-painted filigree work and a disc painted half red, half white.

The deck and upperworks are all varnished wood. The bottom of the boat is painted in a striped geometric pattern in pale grey and pink. The decoratively shaped backboard has a gold beaded edge, and a heraldic shield painted in the centre with two white crosses on red grounds and two white swans on blue grounds. The boat is equipped with a pair of white oars each with a red tip, red stripe near to the middle and a red v-shaped tip at the end of the blade. The model is mounted on a pair of varnished plywood crutches attached to a varnished lozenge-shaped plywood baseboard. In the middle of the baseboard a cut-out wood Maltese Cross has been applied and, below it, a wood swag marked "Malta".
