Passenger vessel; Dghajsa

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Maltese dghajsa made entirely in wood. The double-ended hull is brightly painted with a broad blue stripe running the entire length of the hull with varnished wood below. Above the blue stripe are two gold beaded stripes running from the tip of the stem post to the stern. between the beaded stripes a salmon pink panel is decorated with black filigree work and marked "313". There are oculi painted on the port and starboard bows. The bulwarks are decorated with blue rectangular panels edged with black lines on two sides. The stem and stern posts are very high, decoratively shaped, and painted bright green. The rudder has an integrated tiller also painted green. The bowsprit and both masts are unpainted apart from having red tops. There are lateen yards rigged to both sails and the triangular sails are set. There is also a jib sail. All the sails are made from single pieces of cream-coloured fabric. The fore and aft decks are painted salmon pink and, between them, a wide, uncovered hatch provides access to the bottom of the boat whose sides are painted bright green and floor painted a paler green. The model is displayed on a pair of varnished plywood crutches.
