Cargo vessel; Duck boat

Scale: 1:12. A full hull model of a Chinese duck boat made entirely in wood with bamboo fittings and varnished a dark brown finish. The hull is flat-bottomed, straight-sided with a transom stern and rectangular wide basket outrigger pens. These pens are supported on transverse beams that extend well beyond the hull, have netting floors, bamboo sides and boarding platforms stowed in a near-vertical position. Other fittings include a large transverse bulkhead at the bow, independent of the hull proper, with a square aperture in the centre, and a large deckhouse extending almost the length of the vessel with a curved roof. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden baseboard with bevelled edges and bun feet.
