Passenger vessel; pinnace

Scale: Unknown. Model of a pinnace from Bengal made entirely of wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull, which has been painted green throughout, has been carved from a solid piece of wood and is decked fore and aft. The hull is double ended with rubbing strakes running the entire length of the port and starboard sides. The cabin, deck, and inboard details have also been painted green. The yellow ochre painted flat-roofed cabin is positioned just aft amidships and there is an open well amidships. There is provision for a rudder which is missing. The model is equipped with four paddles (one missing), three of which are rigged to thole pins on the port side and a pair of flags made from green cotton. On a paper label applied to the foredeck is '1,5, 3715 pinnace Bengal'. On two paper labels applied to the port side of the hull is '3715' and '4928'. On an accompanying label is 'Paris hundred Exhibition Pinnace (boat) From 24 Purgu... Bengal Exhibited by Hurendra Krishna Baladoor Bengal 191'.
