Fishing vessel
Scale: about 1:11. A model of a River Wye coracle made entirely of ash lath and tarred calico 'skin' with a hazel withy gunwale. On the model the seat is supported by a solid bulkhead. The section abaft of the seat is longer than the section forward. On a handwritten label applied to thwart is "Coracle - The Wye, Herefordshire".
Such craft were used for net and for rod fishing on the Wye and Usk. They ceased to be used on the Wye after the First World War, and on the Usk after the 1930s.
