Fishing vessel; Jangada
Scale: circa 1:12. A full hull model of a Brazilian raft or Jangada made entirely in wood with organic material fittings. The hull is constructed in exactly the same way as the depicted vessel with five logs of the piùba tree, pinned together with large wooden treenails or pegs, and a centreboard fitted immediately abaft of the mainmast. The model is equipped with two paddles, a stone killick anchor, rudder and two masts carrying both lateen and a larger square lugsail on the foremast. The sails are made from a coarse cream-coloured material.
