Fishing vessel; River Dee Coracle
Scale: 1:6. A model of an upper River Dee type two man coracle, which is rectangular in plan view. The frame is made from interlaced ash laths with a tarred canvas skin. There is a heavy tumble-home of the sides and is sheer at either end. The 'corners' of the frame are made of short diagonal laths, with a median strut between the seat and stern gunwale, and the two rows of seat pillar supports. There are three wires on the underside of the hull, attached to the gunwales which meet at a point underneath. The model is equipped with a paddle.
This type of coracle was used for rod and net fishing of salmon, and sometimes used in pairs for netting.
