Dry card compass

Bowl-Copper weighted at base, set in brass gimbal ring. Black lubber line painted on inside of bowl.
Card-Mica covered with paper. White with black markings graduated to points and quadrantally in degrees. Decorated North and East points. Graduated arc of about 40 degs at North point. Dia. 6.5" (16.5cm)
Needle-Single edge bar needle 6.25" (15.9cm) length. Has brass cross struts which have vanes carrying balancing weights. Pierced to accommodate double pivot pin, one end protrudes through card.
Pivot-Lower:Brass attached to cross struts secured to sides of bowl. Upper: Set in iron strur secured to ring which fits inside upper portion of the bowl.
Mounted on ACO stand 9.75" (24.5cm) square
