Dry bowl compass

Bowl-Brass, weighted at base and suspended in brass gimbal ring. Glass has centre boss into which is screwed a magnet, length 6" (15.2cm) by 1/3" (0.6cm) with rounded tip at thread end.
Needle-Edge bar with centre ring for gimbal suspension. Rests on bell-shaped support which has soft iron tip. Wax blobs on one end.
Pivot-Steel spike in brass tube. Mounting attached to base of bowl.
Mounted in ACO stand 7.75" (19.6cm) square
