Dry card compass

Bowl-Brass weighted at base, fitted with stop mechanism. Black painted lubber line on inside of bowl. Set in brass gimbal ring.
Card-Mica covered with paper. Black with white markings graduated to 1/4 points. Dia. 6.75" (17.2cm)
Needle-Two edge bar needles, length 5.25" (13.3cm), on underside of card. Attached by two threaded cross arms to pivot. Arrangement counterbalanced on upper side of card by four weighted threaded cross arms.
Pivot-Lower:jewelled cap carried in strap on base of bowl. Upper:jewelled cap carried in brass bridge secured to the lower strap.
Mounted on ACO stand, 9.75" (24.8cm) square.
