Dry card compass

Bowl-Copper with brass ring at top, pronounced swell at lower end to accommodate the ends of the needle. Fitted with glass at top and bottom. Top glass marked with arrow. Card lifter is fitted, operated by screw mechanism. Set in brass gimbal rings, four lubber lines in black, marked on inside.
Card- Mica hand painted. White with black markings graduated to 1/4 points. Has crown decoration. Brass pivot stud.Dia. 7.5" (19cm)
Needle-In three parts; centre portion screws onto the base of the cap with the two ends bent downward.Illustration to be found in card catalogue
Pivot-Steel spike set in brass tube which incorporates lifter. Attached to glass bottom of bowl.
