Stocking purse
Blue silk mesh purse, the open end held by two metal pins with white glass beads at either end. White bead on bottom of purse. Closed by a silver and carved ivory ring. Taken from the pocket of Lord Nelson after his death and retained by Captain Hardy as a memento. When it was exhibited at the Royal Naval Exhibition, Chelsea, in 1891, it was said that the purse was constantly used by Nelson, and when Hardy retained it, it still contained a gold guinea, since lost.
