Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1812
Commander's full dress coat said to belong to Lt John Seys. Blue wool fabric with knap, white silk ling. Hand sewn. white lapels which button back with nine buttons. Two buttons on collar with dummy button holes. Lace round top and lower edge of collar, both sides of lapels and front of coat tails. White cuffs with two rows of lace. Lace round cuff slash and flap which has three buttons. Dummy pockets with lace round pocket and flap, three buttons below. Lace round back vent in coat coming to a point. Sets of pleats each side, laced and each with three buttons. Buttons are gilt, flat with a foul anchor below a crown within an oval.
