Honourable East India Company uniform: pattern 1830

Commander's Uniform. Navy wool tail coat. Lapels, collar and cuffs of navy/black velvet decorated with embroidered metal threads rather than gold lace. Lined with cream silk. Ten pairs of buttons on lapels, three on each cuff and two either side of the collar. Six buttons in pleats in the tails and two beneath each pocket flap. Embroidery in twist pattern on lapels, cuffs, collar and pocket flaps.
