Dry card compass - surveying

Bowl: Brass painted black. Glazed. Has front and back sights fitted. Tripod attachment at base. Brass cover.

Card: Mica covered with blue paper. Black markings graduated to quarter points and to 360 degrees. Crown on it. Jewelled brass pivot cap at centre. Diameter 4.9" (12.6 cm)

Needle: [Flat bar type]

Pivot: Unsighted.

Sights: Front. Hollow arch with wire and hinged blank off jet reflector plate. Card stop mechanism attached operates when sight is folded down. Back. Hinged prism with slit and peephole also two hinged shades.

Tripod: Short wood and brass tripod length 7" (17.9 cm)

O.A. Height of bowl 5.9" (15 cm)
